British technology and engineering consultancy BJSS has chosen Melbourne as the city where it will set up its first office in Australia as it expands to this region.

The company said in a statement that it expected to create 150 jobs in what will be its 14th location which would support its operations in the UK, the US and Europe.

The staff in Melbourne will support BJSS' technology, engineering, consulting, cloud, data and artificial intelligence services.

Securing the confidence — and investment — of a global tech company such as BJSS is great news for Victoria.

The Hon Tim Pallas MP, Treasurer of Victoria

“As Australia’s No.1 tech city, having BJSS set up its first Asia-Pacific office here in Melbourne will ensure they benefit from our culture of innovation and highly skilled talent, while also strengthening our capabilities in areas such as artificial intelligence and cloud computing.”

BJSS head of International Expansion, Amir Soufizadeh, said: “We’re excited to continue our international expansion by opening our first office in the APAC region. Melbourne provides a significant opportunity for us to develop closer ties with our global clients and establish new relationships with local organisations.

"Melbourne is known as Australia’s technology hub and is home to some of the world’s leading tech talent. We’re looking forward to getting started.”

BJSS was set up in 1993 in Leeds and is a Queen’s Award for Enterprise-winning technology and engineering consultancy with more than 1500 staff.
